Can't believe it's been nearly 2 months and I haven't read a decent, new book cover to cover in one go....
so my inertia kicked in and read The Outcasts of 19 Schuyler Place by e.l. konigsburg
Oh,my god, I actually really liked this book! It's been a while since I read anything by konigsburg (I'm not sure if I should capitalize her name because what if the whole lower-case thing is official?), but this book seemed a little different from everything else that she wrote. She has that unique quality in her writing and the depth that her characters dialogue gives out (totally without pretentiousness) and her characters are as usual, totally adorable and endearing to, but somehow, this book didn't have that...weird, eccentric feel to it. Maybe because I'm older? I'll try going over her other books to see how they read now. One thing I love about her books is that there's a sincerity to them, and you can tell that the author really was into this book, because here and there, there are traces of research and real knowledge of what she's talking about. It's not just spur of the moment, half-accurate information and knowledge about laws or art or history, it's real research and it's solid, which (these things aren't important, but they create a background, and a background is important.) sets the story on the ground firmly.
In any case, I liked it, but I felt that the ending was a little hurried and I would've liked to know more. These characters are just so cute, and I was sad that they just wrapped themselves up like that.
/goes off to find The View from Saturday

Change is good, when you collect enough energy to get your inertia going.
I am such a good example of an inertia-bound human, it's scary.
It's fucking hard to get me to do things (like eat lunch) but once I do it, I do it. I just need to get started (many revvings and banging of dashboard needed)
So, gathered some speed and changed up my lj a little. Good change, good change. Surprising how the default themes in lj don't look so ugly as they so often do in say BLOGSPOT or BLOGSPOT or BLOGSPOT.
God I hate blogspot. Hate how it always comes out in that awful color scheme in korean as well. Blogspot in korean is just bad, don't know why, not interested, just bad.
In any case. Is anyone out there? Not really important, but still.

Was there something you were afraid of as a child that just seems silly to you now?

the mountains that surrounded the highway at night whenever my family went somewhere far away.
the black shapes made me feel like I was gonna be eaten up or swallowed up by them
so i crouched up in the back seat hoping they wouldn't see me.
